We are 2 brothers Ashok Shetty and Manoj Shetty running the family business of Gopal chain of restaurants. Our father Mr.Kalsanka Vithal Shetty who was a freedom fighter and a staunch gandhian who wore only Khadi all his life, He came to mumbai with dreams and ambition from Udupi (Karnataka).

He worked as a canteen boy giving tea and cleaning the utensils in the canteen. He was a staunch Lord Krishna devotee as his house in Udupi was very close to the famous Lord Krishna Temple. By working very hard as all the Shetty’s do he rose high in life. He instilled in us the values of hard work and honesty which both we brothers try to follow humbly.

We had all vegetarian restaurants in Bhandup and Kanjurmarg which we brothers converted into permit rooms against our father’s wishes. The irony of the situation is that now we have closed all the permit rooms and made it into pure Vegetarian restaurants by the name of Gopalas. Gopalas has given our family Fame, Wealth and a spiritual platform to serve people who come in. Gopala’s residency is our ambitious Venture and our dream to serve the people with the food for the soul and make their stay as heavenly as possible.
